Thank you. I've always wondered how to tell the difference between a raven and a crow.

I live in San Diego County along the I-15 corridor in north county. On any given evening you can see groups if crows join up with a long stream of northbound crows as the commute home to the large roost located northeast of Escondido. In the morning you can see the reverse as crows head southbound to the "jobs."

I'm glad I could help! Ravens and Crows are so interesting, and it's always a delight to realize the difference. Although, I have to remind myself of the differences often. Sometimes out in the field it doesn't always click into place.

Thank you for your story about the Crows, I love the consistent commute. I'll definitely be writing about them in the future.

That would be really cool to learn more about them here. There was a story about this a couple of decades ago (The Union Tribune? The Reader? Not sure). As I recall the roost is on one of the Native American reservations and has at least 150,000+ plus individuals.

The route changes daily, sometimes it’s further to the east, other days further to the west. Occasionally they come right over our house, flying at maybe 50 feet, and you can actually hear their wings beating against the air. The big flock follows the freeway until they pull off to the east, usually at about where State Route 78 joins I-15.

That's amazing! I grew up in San Diego and had no idea! Definitely something I need to dive into. Thank you for the lead and info!

Gorgeous illustrations! It’d be so cool if one day you painted a version that’d hang on the wall and selectively glow in the dark at night.

I’ve always loved ravens for how smart and playful they are.

Thank you so much! I've been thinking about how I can turn some of these pieces into prints and stickers, and I like the glow in the dark idea. Don't know how I'd do it, but it's definitely something I'll be thinking about.

If you end up making stickers, I used StickerApp (a website, not a literal app - not sure why they're called that lol) to make partially glow-in-the-dark stickers for my book release last year. They were amazing to work with and the quality was superb!

I used StickerApp for my recent Caterpillar and Dodo stickers! I'll check out their glow in the dark stuff. Thank you!
