We Got a Cicada!
June 13th Bug Hike Recap!
I went on vacation! Went to visit my Fiancee’s family in Orizaba, Mexico and it was a lot of fun! However it did put me a bit behind on uploading the Bug Hike recap for June 13th. Thank you for sticking around and seeing what we caught !

Can’t quite decide what Cicada this might be but it’s definitely in the Family Cicadidae
Common Ringlet - Coenonympha california
Some kind of Crab Spider
A kind of Hoverfly
Acmon Blue - Icaricia acmon
A Bug Hike Regular: The Gray Buckeye - Junonia grisea
Brown-spotted Bush-Cricket - Tessellana tessellata
Mystery Spider….Don’t know what she is and couldn’t get a good picture, but she was beautiful. My best guess is the Funnel Web Spider (Agelenopsis aperta) which I saw a lot of growing up. Trust me!
We also saw and heard:
At least 3 wasps that we missed
A couple Yellow-Faced Bumblebees (Bombus vosnesenskii)
Field Mustard (Brassica rapa)
Fitch’s Tarweed (Centromadia fitchii)
Valley Oak (Quercus lobata)
Many butterflies that spotted us from a mile away
Bonus Great Horned Owl Feather!

I don’t have a question from the trail this week, but I do have a question for your guys!
We had quite a few good spider interactions while on this trail. While we didn’t spot a Tarantula like I hoped it was still a great time!
Do you have any interesting or positive spider interactions from your past?
For me I used to go out, stick in hand, to mess with Trapdoor spiders and that was what I did for fun when I was kid.
